Illustrator Malika Favre has artistically expressed the beauty and sensuality of eroticism through her book Kama Sutra A-Z.
The Kama Sutra A-Z was first created by Favre in 2013 as an art project. Now, she bestows her body of work through the new limited-edition book, co-published with Counter-Print.
The book is charged with typography that pays homage to the ancient Indian Sanskrit text on sexuality and emotional satisfaction in life.
Each letter signifies erotic excerpts that were meticulously curated by the artist, with a strong emphasis on female poets in the likeness of Sandra Cisneros, Yusef Komunyakaa, and Stephanie Burt.
Favre designed her work to encapsulate the “timeless relevance of erotica,” and desires to spread the “celebration of joy, pleasure, and sensuality.”
The hardcover is luxuriously foiled in gold and end-blocked in matte black.
The erotic letters are now brought to life through a dedicated website showing the animation of the artworks. The animation was done by Patrick Smith.
The Kama Sutra A-Z book is available on Counter-Print, as well as on Favre’s website. To peek at more of her works, head on over to her site, or follow her on Instagram.
