Steve Irwin’s Son Robert Sparks Confusion With Near-Identical Recreated Portrait

The family of late “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin are prolonging his legacy of wildlife conservation, and his children seem to have inherited his innate love for animals. His son, Robert, himself is a reputable wildlife photographer at just 16 years old.
A self-portrait shared by Robert Irwin has Instagram followers doing a double take, because he looks almost identical to his dad in it.
The 16-year-old seemingly recreated an iconic photo of his father, and shows him snuggling endearingly with a koala.
In most of the comments to his photo, Instagram users say they thought it was a portrait of his father at first. “Did anyone else think this was Steve at first?” one writes. “I legit thought this was Steve,” another user remarks.
The Australia Zoo shared the original image of the “Crocodile Hunter” last month, detailing that the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital has “treated over 90,000 animals, including an average of 800 koalas per year,” since being founded by Steve and Terri Irwin in 2004.
