Choosing a travel destination isn’t easy. If many people were given a choice, they would trot all over the world in a heartbeat. Airbnb literally pulls out all the stops with its new pocket-friendly bundle—and you don’t even have to plan an itinerary.
Inspired by Jules Verne’s novel, Airbnb’s travel package is called ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, and is created to let adventurous souls discover a diversity of culture, traditions and landmarks in 12 weeks—all at only US$5,001.
Destinations comprise “medieval Europe, the former Soviet Union, eastern Africa, the Middle East, northern and southern Asia, the South Pacific, the Americas, and a Nordic island,” the homestay platform details.
Just like the tale, travelers will depart from London, with the trip coming full circle at the same city. This means you’ll have to book a separate round-trip ticket to London, but Airbnb will foot expenses for your accommodations (homestays, hotels, campsites, eco-lodges and more), transportation (flights, cars, trains, boats, helicopters and so on), food and drink. According to Thrillist, you’ll only be paying about US$60 a night.
The trip includes shadowing the trail of Silk Road traders, going on a safari tour in Africa, staying connected with nature at the spiritual Himalayan hills, exploring the city of Bangkok, visiting the shrines of Japan’s Kumano Kodō, and more. It’s an all-in-one package created to stretch your wanderlust.
Perhaps the best part of it all is that 100 percent of the proceeds from the US$5,001 program will be donated to the Malala Fund, co-founded by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai, which pledges to give every girl 12 years of safe and quality education for free.
The first batch of the package will only be limited to six tickets, and will be available to purchase on 20 June at 2pm EST via this listing. The second phase will go up on 27 June, whereas the third and final batch will be available from 1 July. You can also check out the full travel itinerary here.
Below is a rundown of the countries you’ll be visiting through this program:
13. New Zealand
