‘GoT’ Fans Draw Swords At HBO For Entering Controversial Script For Emmy Award
By Yimin Huang, 13 Jun 2019
The Game of Thrones finale might have been largely controversial, but HBO is standing by its creation. Now, the widely-contested script has even been submitted for an Emmy award.
The ballots for this year’s nominations were unveiled on Tuesday, revealing that HBO had foregone the popular Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for the show’s last episode, The Iron Throne, to vie for the titles of ‘Best Writing’ and ‘Directing’.
Since the announcement, fans have taken to Twitter to mock HBO’s decision. Many have been replying to the move with sarcastic lines such as, “I need this level of confidence in my life,” and, “Good luck with that.” Speechless viewers can only sum up their thoughts with GIFs.
Only time will tell whether the script that sparked heated debates can clinch an Emmy. For now, fans have their doubts.
