It appears that both leading men in 2016’s Batman v Superman have disrobed from their superhero roles.
Following reports that Henry Cavill might have bowed out as ‘Superman’, Ben Affleck seems to have confirmed that he will no longer reprise his role as ‘Batman’.
The actor, who starred in Batman v Superman and made a brief appearance in 2017’s Justice League, retweeted a report from Deadline Hollywood that said he would not “be donning the ‘Dark Knight’s tights” at the next Batman installment in June 2021.
Affleck confirmed as much by commenting, “Excited for The Batman in Summer 2021 and to see [director] Matt Reeves’ vision come to life.”
You were the most comic book accurate Batman that has ever been brought to the screen. I'm so thankful that you told a redemptive story about Bruce Wayne in such a human way. Your portrayal reminds me that every fallen person (meaning, all of us) can be saved. pic.twitter.com/AlTFxRo5SA— Rebecca Johnson (@derbykid) January 31, 2019
If this is your way of saying goodbye then I just want to say thank you for giving us such a beautiful performance in BVS. I had the privilege of meeting you and what I told you remains the same. You will always be my Batman. Your performance saved my life. I’m gonna miss u 💔— mandy 🦇🖤 (@xbatflecksx) January 31, 2019
