Infographic: Top Logo Design Trends To Keep An Eye Out For In 2019
By Yoon Sann Wong, 10 Jan 2019
Over the years, the growing digital sphere has significantly influenced the way brands and companies connect with customers, including how logos are designed for the modern age.
Considering UI and UX design, virtual, augmented and mixed reality, artificial intelligence, and more are anticipated to garner even greater attention this year, companies are already on the lookout for designers with these relevant skill sets to help prepare brands for a digital future. This sometimes involves modifying brand marks to keep pace with tech-related consumer behaviors.
To give you a lay of the land for 2019, Shelby Jordan at graphic design freelancing platform 99designs has highlighted the top nine logo design trends to take note for this year.
One major trend that has snowballed in recent times is variable logo design. An increasing number of brand marks have seen overhauls to make them more versatile and adaptable across myriad platforms. This ranges from the small screen of an Apple Watch to the massive interface of an animated billboard.
Mastercard, for instance, recently announced the removal of its name from its iconic interlocking circles in select contexts. The decision was made after months of research in aims of helping help the company meet the changing demands of an increasing tech-driven world and tackle the, at times, highly limited digital real estate available.
Another noteworthy trend highlighted by Jordan is logos with pedigree that retain their classic aesthetics, while modernizing for a new era. End 2018, Carlsberg’s redesign reflected this by placing a refreshing spin on its timeless brand.
