Late last year, Xiaomi rolled out its wireless ‘AirDots’ that could serve as a more affordable, US$30 alternative to Apple’s US$160 ‘AirPods’.
The Chinese consumer electronics company has now gone one step further and appears to have an even more blatant ‘AirPods’ clone up its sleeve.
Its ‘Mi Air’ has been revealed through exclusive renders, shown below, obtained by mobile phone news site MySmartPrice.
The audio accessory sports a similar arm protruding from its earbud section that houses the Bluetooth receiver and microphone. It also comes in a charging case that is very much alike Apple’s version.
This ‘AirPods’ replica can work with both iOS and Android gadgets, offers touch controls for calls, music, and initiating voice assistants, and is touted to provide up to 10 hours of continuous usage on a single charge, which lasts about an hour. It’s also said to have noise-canceling and water-resistant features.
Unlike the ‘AirPods’ however, ‘Mi Air’ comes with silicon covering over each earbud. It will be offered not only in white, but also matte black.
According to the latest update by MySmartPrice, ‘Mi Air’ will go on sale in China on 11 January at CN¥399 (US$58), roughly US$100 cheaper than ‘AirPods’.
Meanwhile, Klipsch has also teased its cool wireless earbuds that come in a sleek, Zippo lighter-like stainless steel case.
