The creative world can be cold and harsh at times, but on the other end of the spectrum, there are designers who go out of their way to lend others a helping hand, and that truly warms the heart.
One kind Samaritan is Brooklyn-based UX and product designer Tregg Frank, who has compiled “(almost) everything” that he picked up in design school to guide budding creatives along in one website he calls ‘Degreeless.design’.
Frank, who currently develops products for JP Morgan Chase & Co., doesn’t negate his experience in design school, but understands that others might not be as fortunate to have been taught by the same professors that educated him on the foundations of design.
“Getting a design degree is not a waste of time,” he says. “In fact, it’s one of the best decisions I've ever made. However, most people aren’t as lucky to have the sort of professors I did. Some people don’t have the access, the ability, or the time to go to school for this stuff.”
Frank insists that in order to find your talent in design, you first need to “be self-sufficient… [and] hungry to learn.”
As such, he’s put together an ongoing list of resources for designers of various professional levels that he has found useful in his learning journey.
“This is for budding UX, UI, Interaction, or whatever other title designers,” he concludes. Check out ‘Degreeless.design’ here.
