Zendaya Transforms Into A ‘Mod Girl’ For Her Latest Cover On Marie Claire
By Izza Sofia, 09 Aug 2018
Talented actress Zendaya has been chosen to grace the cover of Marie Claire’s September issue.
She is seen wearing a chic leopard sweater with a messy beehive hairdo and cat eye eyeliner for stylish 60’s vibes. The words “Zendaya Rebel With A Cause” on its front references James Dean’s 1955 movie Rebel Without a Cause.
Taking cues from a “Mod Girl,” Zendaya dons retro outfits, various fur coats and playful prints, a clever take on meshing modern and retro in a fresh way.
One of the images shows her wearing a zebra-striped turtleneck paired with midi pencil skirt and red Mary Jane flats, while another photo shows her wearing a mohair sweater, plus skirt and socks—all in cheetah prints.
Apart from the amazing fashion spread, the September issue also covers how Zendaya has become a household name.
In the issue, Marie Claire’s cover writer Janet Mock also talks about how Zendaya was made fun of by television personality Giuliana Rancic, who said that the actress looked like she smelled of weed due to her waist-length faux locks at the 2015 Oscars.
Zendaya hit back at Rancic’s comment saying that the criticism circulating African-American hair stemmed from ignorant people who chose to make pointless judgements based on “the curl of their hair.”
