McDonald’s Tests Posh Concept That Serves Burgers With Diamond-Encrusted Cutlery
By Izza Sofia, 08 Aug 2018
McDonald’s is opening a new fine dining restaurant in the UK that is a class above its regular outlets.
The Kensington High Street branch will be offering a reservation-only service, and those who wish to dine in will be able to reserve a table by signing up online.
This trial service is carried out in celebration of the company’s gourmet-style burger range called ‘McDonald’s Signature Collection’ which is rolling out nationwide.
Unlike other outlets, this branch has limited seats and diners can reserve their spot within the allocated two-day window. The new concept will only be open to public come 15 August, and lucky diners will be welcomed by a string quartet.
The interior of the restaurant will be filled with rich velvet curtains and “fine burger art” will hanged on its walls to give its patrons a luxurious feel.
Customers will also be presented with a menu of the ‘Signature Collection’ which consists of the ‘Classic’, ‘BBQ’ or ‘Spicy Signature Burger’. The food will be served by white-gloved butlers carrying it under a silver cloche and customers can dine using the restaurant’s ‘diamond-encrusted cutlery.”
The ‘Signature Collection’ menu is created by Chef’s Council, which is made of professional chefs who have worked in various Michelin Star restaurants. This burger range will be priced at £5 (US$6.43) each at participating restaurants.
To those who wish to eat this new offering at the Kensington High Street branch next Wednesday, 8 August, you can sign up at the McDonald’s website to reserve a spot for yourself.
McDonald’s has revealed that it will roll out this trial concept for special events if it becomes a success.
