See What The Average Faces Of Vogue Magazine’s Female Cover Models Look Like
By Izza Sofia, 07 Aug 2018
A study commissioned by online discount website MyVoucherCodes has revealed the image above showing what the average face of fashion looks like, based on Vogue magazine’s female cover models from the past 25 years.
Data specialist Giuseppe Sollazzo amassed names and images of every female cover model featured on seven international editions of Vogue including US, Russia, Brazil, France, Japan, UK and Italy throughout the aforementioned period.
Using a facial feature extraction technique, the experiment drew out 68 points from each face and averaged these features using a method called ‘Delaunay Triangulation’.
The study states that the technique divides each photo into triangles whilst the averaging algorithm twists two images at one time, so they line up perfectly with each other. After the triangles are placed back together, an average face is created.
Take a look at the faces featured for the different countries below or head over here to read more about this experiment in-depth.
