The best ideas are sometimes birthed from everyday routines. For some of the world’s most creative minds though, these rituals are oftentimes completely out-of-the-norm.
In this amusing infographic by Business Backers, you’ll learn about the strange methods nine brilliant brains adopted to unleash their creative juices.
For instance, according to Walter Isaacson’s authorized biography on the late Steve Jobs, the former Apple CEO used to soak his feet in toilet water.
Further, surrealist Salvador Dalí would force himself to stay half-awake during his slumber by holding a key over a metal plate. If he dozed off, the key would fall off his hand and clang onto the plate, jolting him to wake up immediately.
Marc Seifer’s book, Wizard: The Life and Times of Nikola Tesla, describes that inventor Nikola Tesla squished his toes repeatedly—about 100 times per foot—to get his brain cells on the move.
It’s not to say that you should consider picking up these habits, but if you have an oddly specific technique that you swear by to eliminate mental blocks, you definitely aren’t the only one. View the visual below.
