Wendy’s is taking down another rival, albeit a wholly unexpected one. Soon after IHOP announced that it was renaming itself to IHOb, short for International House of Burgers, the snarky fast food chain took no haste to ridicule its business redirection.
Wendy’s, famed for its fresh beef online and offline, shows that its feathers have not been ruffled with the addition of another competitor, especially one that seemingly can’t even get its staple menu item right. “Not really afraid of the burgers from a place that decided pancakes were too hard,” it tweeted.
Burgers have been on IHOb’s menu for years, but the chain is now seeking to make it a frontrunner—alongside pancakes, so don’t worry—by using all-natural USDA Choice Black Angus ground beef. It has thus introduced a lineup of seven ‘Ultimate Steakburgers’, which feature patties that have been “smashed” on the grill to lock in their juices and flavor, à la In-N-Out.
“These burgers are so burgerin’ good, we re-burgered our name to the International House of Burgers!” the company wrote in a press statement.
“Also, burgers burgers burgers,” IHOb passionately scribed. “Burgerin’ burgers burgers. Reburgered burgers burgers burgers burgers burgers burgers. Burger burgerings burgers burgers burgers. Burgerin’ burgers burgers. Moreover, burgers burgered burgers burgers. Burgers burgers burgerin’ burgers burgers burgers burgers burgers burgers burgers burgers burgers burgerin' burgers.”
Stacking on its savagery, Wendy’s wrote in a separate tweet, “Remember when you were like seven and thought changing your name to ‘Thunder BearSword’ would be super cool?
Like that, but our cheeseburgers are still better.”
While “IHOb” has been trademarked by the burger newcomer, it’s probably just a temporary name used to advertise its new range of menu items.
