United Airlines Under Fire For Footage Showing Employee Pushing Down Elderly Man
By Izza Sofia, 15 Jun 2017
United Airlines is under fire yet again.
A 2015 video that appears to show a United Airlines employee shoving a passenger to the ground surfaced, and it soon went viral.
In the three-minute clip, which Houston news station KPRC reports was taken from surveillance footage at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Ronald Tigner falls to the floor of the airport, where he lies flat on his back for about 50 seconds, during which no airline employees attempted to check on him.
KPRC exclusively broadcast the footage after a description of the event was included in a lawsuit recently filed by Tigner against United Airlines, Alejandro Anastasia—the customer services representative who allegedly shoved him—and another employee.
Tigner’s attorney William Hoke said that his client hit his head on the floor and was knocked unconscious, and that none of the United employees who were looking on helped him.
Another passenger, a nurse, stopped to check on Tigner and urged someone to call 911. In a recording of the 911 call obtained by KPRC, a United employee says, “There’s a 70-year-old male that had fallen down” and denies knowing the cause of the fall.
Tigner is suing the three parties for negligence and is asking for more than $1 million in damages.
Take a look at the footage below.
