From 2018, IKEA May Officially Start Selling Its Products On Amazon
By Izza Sofia, 15 Jun 2017
If you have an Amazon account, it is time to count yet another blessing of the prime membership. In 2018, IKEA may officially start selling its products through the famous online retailer.
According to Reuters, IKEA will start selling its products on websites other than its own next year.
Although Inter IKEA Group Chief Executive Torbjörn Lööf—who heads brand and strategy for the Swedish furniture giant—would not name the channels through which they will first be testing third party online sales, Reuters reports that Amazon (which has announced plans to venture into furniture) and China's Alibaba are likely candidates.
After a quick search, IKEA products—ranging from water bottles and flatware to lingonberry preserves and floor lamps—sold directly from the Swedish furniture giant can already be found on Amazon. We expect more products to be listed if the partnership becomes official.
This is good news for those who do not own cars or live nowhere near an IKEA store. Imagine being able to order up extra Scandi style wine stems for a party or one of IKEA’s 9,499 other products. Nothing would make IKEA fans happier than avoiding the heavy lifting and buying home goods while sitting on their couches.
